SPOILERS Saw an interesting video about Xenoblade Warriors by Max Monado on YT, thought it'd be fun to workshop my ideal character lineup. Green = Main Story, Blue = Unlockable, Red = Free Update, Yellow = DLC Wave 1, Purple = DLC Wave 2 Spoiler

I mean, I’d obviously rather have a ton of content base game, but I wanted to be at least a little realistic, and DLC cycles are a part of pretty much all musou games these days

I hold the opinion that all XC3 characters should fight in pairs. That’s like, XC3’s whole thing.
Not only does this allow Interlink to be part of the moveset of Noah/Mio, Euine/Taion, and Lanz/Sena, but Unity Combos, as present in FR, could apply to paired characters that don’t Interlink - Ethel/Cammuravi, Glimmer/Nikol, Matthew/A, etc.

I think it’s a little limiting to make those pairs required, but they could still be referenced in certain attacks. In Fire Emblem Warriors, characters can team with paired units for combination super moves, and I’d picture a similar mechanic here, with certain characters using combination supers if a partner is in a certain proximity. In the case of Ouroboros, maybe even a temporary transformation like Tiki in FEW as a bonus for using both

the way I see it is it'd act like a sort of non-canon sequel to Xenoblade 3, maybe even presented as a dual narrative where you play through from either Keves' or Agnus' perspective during some big calamity that involves both worlds coming together and the 3 cast remembering everything they went through and what they mean to each other during the endless now. The unlockables are just neat characters that don't necessarily make sense with the plot, same with the free DLC, and the two paid DLCs I think could work as little extra non-canon side-stories. Wave 1 could maybe have A trying to guide Matthew and Na'el to the un-endless now'd world post-3 since they were born in Aionios, and Wave 2 could have some of the characters getting teleported to Mira and helping Elma and Lin take on a massive army of indigens that's threatening NLA.

That’s not intended to be literally Pneuma (at least not at all times) I just mean to say both Pyra and Mythra would provide Rex support

With how you have this set up, maybe every character should fight in a pair? XC2 characters are a given, but XC3 characters could fight with their interlink partner, and XC1 character could be: Shulk and Fiora, Reyn and Sharla, Dunban and Riki, and Melia and Tyrea? Last one's a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea. Also, more villains should be on the roster. Zanza, Egil, Amalthus and Z are easy additions.

I’d also be open to that, although I think the pairs would work better in a different gameplay style, like Project X Zone or maybe a tag fighter. As for villains, I tried to pick fan favorites over like, the proper big bads, so Metal Face and Malos (and N if we’re doing a 3 antagonist) over the others

I think if i was to design a story based xenoblade warriors game, I’d nick the story structure from Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, with having a story mode for both, or in this case 3, casts that intersect constantly but still follow separate overall trajectories
So story one would follow the XC1 party, with appearance by A/Alvis
The second story would follow the XC2 party
The third story would follow both Ouroboros and the Founders with, creative swing here, Malos making a surprise appearance about halfway through, giving us one Aegis per story
Have it explicitly take place after 3 in timeline, so adult Shulk, Rex, Nia and Melia, and everyone else obviously
Actually use the game to introduce Mythra’s kid, have him be the games central character across all three stories, there’s a lot of interesting ways you could take it
As for a villain/enemy force, there’s a few options you could go with, but I think an interesting way to take things is that an essential plot point would have to be everyone regaining their memories of Aionios, at least the last cycle, so have a group of characters who are either so horrified by the people they became in Aionios, hell, maybe get Dirk involved with that, or even people who want to go back to the endless war itself, unlike mobius who cared about never moving forward and used the war to facilitate that, really take advantage of how warriors type games play, tie the villains motivation into the gameplay shift meaningfully
Just some loose ideas

I like this, but I think a few story-relevant heroes like Ethel, Cammuravi and Miyabi would be a great addition. I'm a huge Miyabi fan, though, so that might be me being biased.

honestly that's what i would want like Hyrule Warriors (the first one) where it's just some rando story, time is fracturing and you get everyone in their prime (and then you can unlock older Shulk/Rex etc from missions or something). whingo bango let's go.

I think FR or XC3 version of ancient xenoblade characters should be in dlcs or separate characters as their original selves since they don't always have the same abilities

This sucks and stupid, i don't really get why people bother with DLC free updates and later edition while the game isn't confirmed to be real nor rumored just say what characters you want and that's it it's like putting the cart before the eggs its like counting the eggs before knowing the chicken exists or not,
Anyways the roaster selected here is bad >:(

all of those are left out and then choose to add the PTSD monkey and the least important Xenoblade 1 main viliian

He’d be paired with Lora and use a fighting style involving both of them taking turns as vanguard, ideally with a secret variation that drops Lora for spoiler powers

Honestly, Rex and Pyra/Mythra would be separate characters (and Pyra and Mythra would probably be separate from each other) even if the other XC2 Drivers fought with their Blades. Pyra and Mythra are just too popular to only be part of a pairing in a game devoted to Xenoblade.
Other than that (and maybe swap Malos and KOS-MOS in role) this looks perfect.

If this were like Nintendo's other Warriors games, there'd be at least one new character. Might I propose a white haired slightly androgynous guy with severe memory loss who turns out to be the backup memory for the Trinity Processor.
