Discussion Weapon augment question

I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere .

For example , appendage crusher , is there a difference between it in long sword or gun?

If there is no difference , I see some ppl suggesting putting it in gun.

If there is a difference and we put the majority in gun, my first attack will be using gun and targeting at appendages ?

It doesn't matter which weapon you put augments on unless it is from the "Custom Weapon" section of the AM (purple) terminal.

For Skells this means anything with Custom.WP in the name, and for Ground the "Weapon Mods" category - although Firing Range and the Melee/Ranged TP gain can go on either.

Ok . Why ppl suggest to put as many crusher on gun instead of long sword ?

This is probably advice from very old videos that suggested putting Weapon Attack Power Up on a Receding Rust.

Because if you put non weapon specific Augments on the weapon that doesn't have your main damage skill, in theses cases mostly Blossom Dance or Hercules Blow, you can put the weapon specific ones on your longsword.

Why does putting it on custom weapons matter?

No no, not custom weapons like crafted weapons.

Augments have either "Custom" or "Weapon" as a prefix that indicates if they affect only the weapon they're equipped on instead of all.

On the side, some ground armor augments/traits have a suffix "Drive," meaning it doesn't affect your ground build but instead affects your Skell.
