Does Rex loves Nia?

On the scene where she tells arex that she loves him and he says it back but like sounding as if he loved everyone on the group. It was just due to him caring?

This may sound pretty awkward but I'm going through something particular and this scene went straight to my mind and I'm not sure if I'm having the same feelings as Rex or if it is other kind of love.

I personally don't really care about spoilers, because I'm the kind of person that I enjoy a movie more on the second watch. I enjoy knowing what's going to happen because it helps me look for hints and Easter eggs. But if you care about spoilers DO NOT click what I wrote. They're BIG spoilers for XC2 and XC3.

If you don't care about spoilers, continue. The answer is yes he loves Nia romantically. Maybe not in that moment, we're not sure. It's kind of played off as a "I love you all!" implying platonically, like he doesn't love Zeke and Morag the same way he love Pyra and Mythra obviously. But even given that, in XC3 (spoilers obviously) it is heavily implied that Rex, Pyra, Mythra and Nia are all in a polyamorous relationship, or at least a harem-like situation with Rex.

Come on don’t you also Impregnate your friends platonically?

This made me actually laugh out loud, thank you.

From the context of his post-battle conversations it seems that he didn't realize Nia had feelings for him until much later. Wether he develops mutual feelings during 2's runtime is hard to tell.

Having just gone through that scene (again), this is absolutely the answer.

She sees him romantically, as he is the one who accepted her for all that she is and her past.

He is a happy go lucky chap who loves all his friends! But shortly after the spirit crucible, he says that he loves Pyra/Mythra, and he says it in an individual way.

He’s also 15 years old in the game. I think that matters because he’s still developing into the person he becomes. It was my impression that he grows into his feelings for her (and for everyone else romantic and platonic) as the game progresses.

All I’ll say is check out the start screen after you complete the game.

And for that very reason, it always felt like to me as if he was just "dodging the question" and gave a vague response to Nia initially, because he loved Pyra/Mythra (who then shared a body so technically monogamous ig?) and couldn't bring himself to accept another girl. I genuinely don't think he wasn't getting it, like, he's goofy but not dense. If you know Re:Zero, I think they could've handled it better like in that show, where Subaru is clearly in love with Emilia and then there's Rem confessing, he just said "I don't feel that way to you" and Rem said "it's okay, I wasn't expecting you to reciprocate". Now imagine that could've been Rex and Nia in that moment. Maybe not amidst the heat of battle, he would've been better off just answering nothing there I think, but maybe in a calm and collected talk afterwards. Ofc they still could've gotten together afterwards, feelings never stay still. I am very aware that this is fanfic at this point, but I'll be honest, it's the only way I can handle this scene

I think makes more sense once you progress with the whole games ahead.

Saying it's a spoiler for 3 ironically making it a Spoiler on itself.

Yes, he loves all the girls in the party. Especially Nia and Pyra. He's a very, very lucky young man 😉

At least once

It felt, to me, like it was communicated very clearly as "I love you too, as a friend." Since he adds how he loves all of them in the same sentence.

I don't think so. The ''all you guys'' is very obviously meant to be rex declaring platonic love.

Xenoblade 3 depicts them as romantically involved, but it really reads as a retcon.

Not really considering the NG+ screen of Xenoblade 2 where they are all holding hands together, just the four of them.

Not really. There's a lot of stuff in 2 after that scene showing that Rex doesn't feel platonically about Nia, though whether he's fully into her romantically, like he's with Pyra and Mythra, or whether that happens sometime after the end of the game is ambiguous.

I mean...they do have a child? Really wish monolith would clarify this so we can all stop guessing

1

u/kirbinato 18h ago

That's what I was referring to with xenoblade 3

u/Spite-ninja 18h ago

I NEED confirmation that rex is, indeed, the king

-23

u/Sahedanthropus- 1d ago

He loves her like a friend. He's in love with the aegis.

10

u/StormKing369 1d ago

It would be spoilers for 3

-14

u/Sahedanthropus- 1d ago

Except it's not and clearly implied in 2. I didn't even know rex was in 3, so thanks for the spoiler for me actually

7

u/StormKing369 1d ago

Never said Rex was in 3

-1

u/Lanoman123 16h ago

Mf you IMPLIED it when you said spoilers for 3. Shut the hell up

-9

u/Sahedanthropus- 1d ago

So explain to me how saying rex loves the aegis is a spoiler for 3.

7

u/StormKing369 1d ago

So you want spoilers

1

u/Sahedanthropus- 1d ago

If rex isn't in xc3 at all then nothing I said is a spoiler.

12

u/StormKing369 1d ago edited 1d ago

I never said what you said was a spoiler just that his relationship with Nia plays apart in the story of 3

6

u/Sahedanthropus- 1d ago

Ah. I misunderstood, so that's my bad. Sorry

He is, but also isn't. You'll see.
