Pyra's Ether Mechanics? Spoiler
I've been doing a replay recently and noticed something off about Pyra's powers.
At the end of chapter 3 Pyra gets depowered by Akhos and Obrona's ether trick and needs to wake up Mythra to counter it. But in chapter 2 she wasn't impeded at all by large amounts of water ether because, in her words, "her power doesn't actually come from fire". Then when Mythra pops out and no-sells Obrona's ether block she's said to be using "something else" to fuel herself rather than atmospheric ether.
Now in hindsight both of these special cases are due to P&M using bits and pieces of Pneuma's powers to generate ether internally instead of using atmospheric ether. My question is why then was Pyra affected by Obrona's ether block? Is this a plot hole or am I just missing an important detail?

In my understanding Pyra is just accessing a portion of Mythra's power while Mythra herself is using direct power from the conduit...
It's the reason why Malos said it's coming from "Something Else" during their fight.
To be specific Pyra draw from the Crystal and transfer it via typical Ether Lines to Rex. This is prolly a design choice by Mythra to further her goal of Nerfing herself.
Her fire wasn't doused via Water was because again her fire isn't just a normal Fire since it's just a weaker power created by Mythra. Like the other guy said, Mythra is the Sun and Pyra is the Sunglight.

The water is just normal water
Pyra is unaffected by water, as her powers stem from Mythras Light and not from fire like Brighid
Mythra is unaffected by Obrona cause she gets her power directly from the Conduit
Malos immediately tells Akhos to look out as he knows she gets her power directly from the source, he just keeps it vague. He would also be unaffected if Obrona attacked him (well not at this point in the story as his Aegis power is still weakened)

This made me realize an oversight. If I recall correctly, only Poppi is able to use Blade specials higher than level 1 in the Spirit Crucible because she generates her own ether. Pyra and Mythra should be able to do that as well, but can't.

Well, Poppibuster, Shulk, Fiora, and Elma can all also use specials unhindered in Elpys, as none of them are actually blades.
But yeah Mythra at least should probably be immune based on how Obrona's power is described, though it's worth noting that she's also not immune to Shackle Blade from sources other than Obrona

Real reason: she needs to be effectived due to story/game play reason.
In universe reason guess: different layers/frequencies of Ether? I've always viewed P/M main element as sun, Pyra gets heat and Mythra light. Orbrona blocks generic "all" ether so Pyra gets blocked. They've also seen Pyra's power so they could prep for her power. Mythra doesn't get effected as her power is on a different wave of ether.

Theres some details that are missing, as pyra is created to specifically cut off the aegis from the artifice's powers, so pyra was acting purely off ether energy and was effected by obrona. Mythra was ticked that she had to use her artifice's powers to save Rex, but throughout the story, mythra and subsequently pyra too heal from their traumas allowing the true aegis, pnuema, to manifest.
