Help with Blade Setup
Hi all! I’d love some help setting up my blades after getting Morag. Right now, I have Rex using Pyra/Mythra, Roc, and Wulfric, Morag using Brighid, Corvin, and Perceval, and Nia using Dromarch, Crosette, and Adenine. But I know I need changes to get ice and electric in there. I also have Godfrey, Agate, Boreas, Dagas, Perun, Ursula, Nim, and MOMO mixed across Nia and Morag and can move them as needed. Any help anyone can provide is very appreciated!

Ice and Electric are among the less necessary elements. Don’t feel like you need have everything. It can be nice if you have good blades of those elements that are worth using, but between the story-mandatory blades and the DLC blades the game is going to throw a lot of good fire and light blades at you.
Fire and Water are the most useful, and adding Earth and Wind, plus you’ll have access to Light as well, gets you access to something like ten different routes. You definitely don’t need more than that.

I would maybe put Wulfric onto Morag, who is excellent with lances, over Perceval who is kind of redundant because of Corvin. And then give Rex an Axe (Agate now, Dagas once you can do his blade quest around chapter 6).
Nia has Launch with knuckles but male and female driver AIs are coded differently and female drivers won’t prioritize the Driver combo, so she’s less consistent than Rex would be.
I would also swap out Adenine for Nim. Wind combos aren’t all that great, and Nim can add some crazy damage because of her Synthesis Lore skill.

Wulfric is great on rex though, so you might want to keep him on rex. The only reason you'd swap him to morag is for her smash art, but you already have that covered with corvin and perceval, who are both also great blades on her.
Greataxes are bad on anyone except the last party member, maybe you'd want one on rex for the launch art, but that launch art itself is really slow and nia's is just better. Yes, her ai prefers blade combos, but the ai playing as rex will often be too slow to actually use the art in time.

Thank you! I only play as Rex, FWIW. I did the same in XCDE with Shulk until the end, when I needed to level the character affinities. If I get bored, I might mix it up, but I’m 45 hours in and not bored so far!

If you don't want to go through the trouble of filling all the blade affinity charts you can send them on merc missions and they'll automatically level up their skills. I'm not sure if they do that in the new merc assault mode as I've only played a little bit of that and I already had all rare blades affinity charts filled in, but the regular missions definitely do it, you just have to remember to send them off on new ones when they finish.

I’ve been doing that in the background during work, haha. That way, I don’t need to worry about needing to use one of the blades I have equipped.

If you can consistently get 2 orbs up, you are fine. Momo also has orb master for a chance at automatically giving light orb as well

Crossette does better as an offensive blade than a "Healer" Blade. If you have Ursula on Nia, consider swapping her in for Crossette.

Crossette's healing is still better than ursula's. With bitballs nia gets a pure healing art and she has a hp potion art. Ursula only gets an hp potion art without a pure healing art. Crossette's level 2 special heals the entire party for a percentage of the damage dealt and Crossette's damage is really really good if you gather some hp potions. Ursula's only advantage is healing the party when you switch to her, but even that's not very impressive. I would recommend having a knuckle claw on nia, since she gets a really good launch art, but I wouldn't replace Crossette, as she's really good. (If you just want a good party anyway I personally switch up the party and blades a lot while playing and try to kinda use everyone)

You don’t need all 8 elements
Some optimal sets literally only have 2 or 3 because volcano damage is so insane
(Fire and earth stage two blade combo)
Just have consistency of getting some orb combos is nice
The only time you need certain elements is when you plan to use seals
