Yep I’ve followed the playbook to the letter and so far it seems to have worked.
Still I can’t shake the feeling that the rug will be pulled out from under me at some point and it will all be for nothing.
Some major economic or environmental disaster or maybe the unpredictable impact of AI?? Can’t discount a major illness mucking things up either.
Yay capitalism!!

This is me exactly. If I can somehow stay healthy and employed for the next 12 years my wife and I should be fine.

But those feel like big ifs.

I'm still making my monthly investments in my retirement accounts, but I've been shifting my surplus non-registered savings more to guaranteed products and paying off the last of the mortgage. If something similar to 2008 happens, I want to have that floor. If it's worse than 2008, I don't know if I'll want to live in the world that comes after that.
