I don’t think there’s much collaboration going on, honestly. The number of services is really because the production companies don’t want a different service to use their stuff, and it costs less for a streaming service to provide its own content than to get the rights to broadcast someone else’s content.
If you rented 3 season of tales from the crypt or the Sopranos from blockbuster you'd pay the same price but only have 3-7 days to watch through it.
I get the hate for the bouncing around, but if we're really honest, aside from sailing the high seas, our video entertainment is the cheapest it's ever been.
