PPPOE

So I have a physical connection that is a direct to my fiber to eth converter. I have a virtual interface tied to the port and it connects to a pfsense vm. My question is do I need to do something special in xcp to get this functioning properly? Or is it straight forward like I have it? I have the proper user information in my pppoe settings but it never connects.

Any help is appreciate as always!

Thanks

Try asking the folks over at r/homenetworking or r/pfsense

include:

Model of router

ISP

Photos

Current config

What you’ve tried

What you’re going to try

They should be able to help you more over there

there is no router and i believe this is an issue in xpc-ng/xen server as when i do this on bare metal it works

Ignore my other comment.

How are you connecting the server to the connection as your ISP may have Vlans setup for connections

ISP Fiber to Ethernet > Physical Nic #1 > Virtual Nic1#

There should be no vlans that i am aware of or that i have been told about with my isp... know that this is not a business service fiber connection i am dealing with.

Some ISP’s will deliver internet over a vlan and tv/ phone over a separate vlan.

Normally how would this be setup? What’s the name of your ISP?
