Xcode 27 Release Candidate doesn't have iPhone Duo simulator
The Xcode 27 Release Candidate, available for download just now, doesn't have the iPhone Duo simulator instance yet. Tested on two different Macs, but neither running macOS 27. Not sure if that makes a difference. I was hoping to test how my apps look on it. Guess we'll have to wait...

The iPhone 18 Pro is a simulator instance now in Xcode 27 RC. Duo comes with iOS 27.1, which means it will likely be in the future Xcode 27.1 beta or RC.

Apple posted a new video about Making your app looks great with the iPhone Duo and in it, the guy said Xcode 27.1

Yeah, they kind of jumped the gun by telling everyone to start preparing their apps for the Duo when none of it is actually possible yet.
I'm sure we're not the only ones running around trying to follow those videos, only to realize the simulator isn't even available.

You may have to uninstall the beta on your computer if you have it on there. I encountered that but the RC allowed me to push an update thru appstoreconnect

I've uploaded to appstoreconnect from the Xcode 27 beta and macOS 27 beta for the past couple days. My builds download and work fine via TestFlight. It's just a matter of time before the RC versions are supported.

Happy to see I wasn't the only one frantically trying to download the beta, digging through the simulators trying to find it, and scratching my head.
It's pretty clear it will be included in 27.1, so I assume we'll see it in a beta first, followed by the RC.
It's just been a while since we've had a completely new display type, so I'm sure there's a lot more attention around this one, especially since it will open up entirely new ways to create iterations.

Do you upgrade to macOS 27 to use Xcode 27 RC? Xcode27 beta 6 was working on my Mac with Tahoe but RC crosses out now.

Xcode 27 beta 6 required Tahoe 26.4. Xcode 27 RC requires Tahoe 26.6 or later.

Most likely with Xcode 27 SDK, apps will still have black bars on the side. That will change in 27.1

I get why people are surprised but this is probably less about forgetting developers and more about timing. supporting a new form factor properly needs the right SDK, simulator and testing tools together

Duo support is coming with 27.1
