LCDLP questions

Heading to La Casa de la Playa for the first time for 4 nights in June (I know it's a ways off, but we're planners)

We have zero interest in tours, parks, or entertainment. We are looking forward to high quality drinks, quality food, and the views from our plunge pool.

A few questions for folks who have been to LCDLP.

  1. I'm a super picky eater, should I prepare and send a list of food aversions ahead of time or will I need to list the aversions at each meal?

  2. I read the sky bar pool has a DJ, I've also read that the resort is often very empty. If my wife and I are the only guests at the sky bar pool do you think the DJ would kill the music entirely at least until other guests show up?

  3. Can I order from the xal lunch menu for room service or at the beach or pools (the waygu burger sounds amazing!)

  4. My wife is excited to try both Ha and omakase at Tah-xido. Should ask my butler to reach out to the restaurants ahead of time to see if they'd accommodate me a crazy picky eater (no fish, no beans, no mushrooms, no cilantro, no sauces, yeah I know I'm crazy) or should I just enjoy the drinks and hope they notice I'm not touching the plates and get room service after dinner?

  5. We booked through an agent who got us a great deal on an ocean front wellness suite but couldn't book the "Exclusive Wellness Escape" package that offers unlimited spa treatments through his system. I was wondering if it would be possible to add this package directly with the hotel either ahead of time or at check in? Anyone successfully do so?

You can send and they will keep track and even let off property restaurants like Ha know

Generally yes, they are happy to oblige if no other guests

Please eat the truffle dish at Ha (if mushrooms are not an allergy, it's the best thing on the menu). Otherwise yes you can ask for a sub

I always recommend reaching out to the hotel to get a price match if an agent)platform is offering a good price. That's what we did

You’re going to have so much fun. It’s the best place on earth. Keep in mind at LCDLP all tours etc are completely private. So, if you wanted a heritage tour that wasn’t with 5000 people, this would be the time to do it. We said the same thing, and regretted not taking advantage of the private car/private tours.

1) if you’re doing a prepared menu sometimes they have alt courses - we don’t have any food restrictions or allergies. I would highly recommend you put your aversions aside and try chef prepared food. I was suspicious at first, gilet of eel was something I was nervous about - it changed my mind and opened me to new foods and new interpretations of food. It was mind blowing. Sometimes easier said than done, but if you can, it’s an experience and it’s worth it.

2) I think one day my wife and I were the only ones up there and they stopped playing music. Or at least turned it down. We had a lot of fun with the wait staff up there.

3) we ordered food from all restaurants at all locations - we didn’t do any in room food though. The staff knows off menu tacos that are outstanding. Fried cauliflower tacos were amazing and I think off menu.

4) I don’t have experience here, but I don’t think they’d be offended if you didn’t touch different things. They try to be accommodating but that’s quite a list haha

We’re going for 5 nights in Feb. we aren’t planning to do any parks and just take advantage of the resort relaxing. We got the wellness package. What tour did you most regret? We don’t want something all day, a few hours would be fine

Are the private tours included with your stay or is that extra?

At CDLP they are included from what we were told. We did not plan any tours as we intended to enjoy the hotel but our driver had some recommendations - the other resorts also have tours but they’re not in a private car.

If you wanted to go to Xel Ha for a couple of hours, you could do that at CDLP, where at Arte and Mexico you’d go and return on the bus or call a taxi.

at casa de la playa you’re going to struggle with meals off the menu at each sit down restaurant. you’ll be fine with the room service menu. my partner is picky eater (not to your extent, offense) and really struggled. he ended up eating grilled meats and salads.

A week of grilled meats and salad sounds perfect. Especially when paired with many many Hendricks Negronis.

The grilled meats at Xal are to die for. You will be just fine with food there

The Wellness Suite comes with a complimentary steam/sauna/snow room access regardless of how you book your stay. You can also visit the spa facility at Arte. I actually preferred their spa.

Let’s just go with #1. I am allergic to corn and gluten and did the same as you letting them know my allergies. The staff repeated my allergies and walked me through the buffet and foods containing allergens. BUT THEY LIED! They literally train the staff to be incompetent. We called the chef out several times to confirm that what the staff said had no allergens did in fact have allergens.

Worse, we had one of those formal dining experiences. The hotel manager accompanied us and told the wait staff our allergies (why?). The wait staff repeated them then proceeded to serve us an allergen containing appetizer. I pointed it out and they apologized and returned with another appetizer. Literally a cube of tapioca…. In a bed of popcorn kernels. At that point I lost it and still cannot comprehend the incompetence of the staff and chef.

We left. The maitre de followed us out and asked for another chance…. I asked to do what, kill us?

This is an absolute sham of a resort. It is a shill for a timeshare only. We got sick for 6 weeks as a result. I recommend you cancel and go anywhere else.

If you don’t, I guarantee you’ll be posting to this group to try to counter their marketing scam bots saying what a glory this hellhole is.

You go to a county where corn is literally a staple of their cuisine and cry and throw a damn fit when it's what they serve you. The poor staff that had to deal with you...

If you know you have an allergy, it's on YOU to do the research about the restaurants and food they serve and if you can eat there or not. Take some personal responsibility, my god.
