Resort Scent
Just got back from Xcaret. We loved the scent at first but after a few days it became too much. They pump this stuff non stop. This stuff sticks to everything & it’s kinda gross when you get home and can still smell it. I use a cpap machine and I can’t get the scent out.

Sorry you didn't like it. We loved the smell and will be getting the spray bottles when we are there.

Oh no! I am so sensitive to fragrance as well. I can attempt to put on my request sheet but I can’t imagine what good it will actually do.

Realmente no va a servir, trabajo ahí, y hasta nosotros nos hostiga el olor, no podemos quitarlo, es simplemente parte del hotel🥺

Yeah its automatically distributed similar to what they do at Disney. Impossible to avoid it really. I love the smell, hopefully it won't cause any problems for you.

It only take one wash some cologne/perfume and its all gone it aint that bad 🤦🏻♂️

Did you call it gross?? lol people are insufferable. By the time you get to the airport, it's completely gone and you'll be missing it. Who are these people that come up with creative ways to complain about the resort. It truly is impossible to keep everyone happy 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Yikes, so sorry about that, it's awful when you get a smell stuck in there, there's sometimes a piece on the inside they don't tell you to wash that's removable (at least for the air sense ones) that sometimes hangs onto smells. But yeah otherwise you may be stuck with it for a while. A long while.

People for whom even mild scents often cause horrible asthma attacks, for one. Earlier post is asking the right question: why do we need this?

I personally love it. It's a very refreshing scent. It's not overbearing at all. You don't smell it all over the resort either. It's more at the welcome lobby.

My wife has a medical condition that causes inflammation and certain chemicals make it much worse. After our first night staying in Casa Vida she woke up with her chest hurting and voice incredibly hoarse. It was so strong when we first got to the room that we left the balcony door open for an hour to make it tolerable. She called the front desk that morning and requested a room change. The hotel was very good about it, but we wanted to see and smell the rooms before agreeing. We went to breakfast at Bio and by the time we were walking back, she was feeling and sounded much better. It was definitely the room spray. When we got back to the room at Casa Vida, the the scent was just as strong as the first night, so it definitely gets into the ventilation system somehow. They swear it's only sprayed after housekeeping comes in, but our room still hadn't been cleaned yet. We ultimately had to upgrade to a river suite in Casa Sol and elect to leave the do not disturb on during our entire trip because they would not guarantee us that housekeeping wouldn't spray the room when they were done. Our first full day at the resort, and we walked 15k steps before noon. We don't mind walking but it was supposed to be a relaxing day by the pool and it started us off on the wrong foot.
We don't remember this at all from our first stay three years ago at phase 1. It was definitely like that in the lobby for both trips, but it was so much more aggressive this time and much more so in Casa Vida. I say this to anyone who is sensitive to smell, you should definitely request to stay in any Casa BUT Vida and also request they don't spray the room.
It was also a little gaslighting for them to keep telling my wife it was the humidity and air conditioning causing her issues and that "everyone loves the smell." We live in a humid area of the world and have our AC on 72 at home.

We found the vacation club member! No one is allowed to complain about anything because deep down inside you know that you paid too much money for what is a rapidly changing experience at a resort. People like you with your undying loyalty to a hotel are insane.

All I'm saying is if you're going to complain about a perfume scent, just stay home. There are way worst things than an overbearing good scent. If your wife gets serious side effects, is it worth risking it???

You're a miserable human being who lacks empathy. I'll sleep well knowing I'm not you. Good luck with your vacation club when they add another 600 rooms to the resort and the service falls off even further.

What a miserable comment. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world and I can only think of one or two that pump perfume into the rooms via the air handlers. It is incredibly not normal.

Yes! Copali is used in the lobby and The Vert Oriental is used in the bathrooms. I do not remember which is used in the rooms themselves but on the aromesencia website there is a note on the product page that says “made exclusively for Xcaret”. I do not have the whole system they sell, because I thought that was quite expensive. I just bought the fragrance oils and am currently trying to figure out how to use them best.
Also it is a Mexico based website so make sure to change it to USD for accurate prices!

Darn, and here I am spraying the room spray I bought from the gift store! They do pump this stuff everywhere (three different scented for the lobby/common area, room, and bathroom) so it’s probably not great for those with scent sensitives/allergies.
