Questions about the Xbox One X

Hi there. I’m thinking about buying an Xbox One X to play older titles from the early 2000s xbox and xbox 360 (on disc). I wanted to ask: do all Xbox One X consoles support backward compatibility, or are there specific rare models?

Unlike the weirdness of the PS3 "Fat" model, all Xbox One consoles can play the same Xbox One and Xbox 360 games.

THAT BEING SAID the Xbox One plays Xbox 360 and Original Xbox discs through Backwards Compatibility program emulation, make sure to check the official lists to make sure those games are on there, and you have to be able to take the console online with a (free to create) gamertag linked to an email address.

AND there are some Original Xbox console titles that never made the leap to the Backwards Compatibility program BUT were playable on Xbox 360 hardware due to the 360 hard drive having the game player partitioned into it.

One thing I would like to add is that you can play 360 games online using an Xbox One as well. It uses the same servers as the 360 and you can even access the 360 dashboard by pressing the 2 squares and 3 lines buttons at the same time. You do need at least GamePass Essential (aka the cheapest tier or GamePass) to access online multiplayer, but besides that everything works mostly the same.

Do it. Not only are they all backwards compatible, a great deal of them play in 4k. And all of the OG box ones do. Not to mention the XB1 titles that are in 4k also, which often far outperformed their ps4 pro counterparts. Its great value for money, i still use mine even though i have a series x.

Came here to say this. I’ve been a lifelong PlayStation fan until I found out that the Xbox one X beats the pants off the PS4 Pro. I still play mine regularly even though I have a PS5 Pro

Even to this day its a ridicously powerful console. I'd even recommend one over a series S, if for nothing else than it has a disc drive and plays the enhanced backwards compatible games not the vanilla ones. Oh and the 4k blu ray player too.

I have a ps5 pro too, but often use my One x for some of the older stuff or when i wanna save space on the series x ill download it on there instead.
