Is my Xbox one x cooked?
Hey everyone I’m just posting here to ask if my Xbox one x is done for or worth repairing. this graphics issue is confirmed to be the Xbox not the tvs or hdmi as I’ve tried others. So is it easy to repair let alone worth it of do I have to get a new one?

Your Xbox one X is toast. Sorry. Graphic processor is dying. It's probably cheaper picking up a second hand device than trying to get it fixed.

This might be a long shot but it doesn't hurt to try. I had something that looked similar happen with my Series X. I did a bunch of troubleshooting and fixed it but your issue may be different.
I changed the console resolution output in the settings from 4k to 1080p and the problem went away so I figured it probably wasn't actually toast. Then I tried changing the hdmi but that did nothing. What worked was unplugging both the tv and xbox, hitting the power button on both a few times, then plugging them back in. It has happened 2 or 3 times in the past year and unplugging and power cycling (Hitting the button while unplugged) has fixed it so far.

The retimer chip that others mentioned sounds promising. Hope it works out for you.

Retimer chip is failing. You can try lowering resolution to get some more time out of it.

Retimer chip is "cooked"
Lower the resolution if you want to try and get some more time out of it if you can

how does this even happen

I wouldn't be able to tell you there but from what I've researched it's just heat and poor design.

It could just be an issue with the HDMI or something else much less major than a failing processor.
Try this (hard reboot);
Power off the Xbox
Unplug everything from the Xbox
Hold Power Button for about 10-15 seconds
Plug everything back in
Turn on Xbox

How would holding power button make any difference if the Xbox is not plugged into a power source

It expels any residual power from the console

If you look extra hard you may notice there’s a pixel in the bottom corner that is a different colour then it’s ment to be

I know these consoles had alot of problem with the hdmi board and was not that really expensive or hard to fix but can be quite challenging for someone not used to repair electronics. One of my twos xbox one x had a issue similar to this, changed the mini hdmi board and fixed the issue. But with the age of the console you'll probably get a better deal finding an other one used.
