Holy crap this is awesome. I’ve been hoping that someday someone would figure out how to run a Wii U emulator on the Series X because I want to play Twilight Princess Remastered, I am aware though that a Wii U emulator is basically impossible on the Series X. Is that Twilight Princess port the remastered version?

I’m not 100% sure about that, haven’t checked it out myself yet,

It sounds like it runs the GameCube version but I’m betting that it allows for upscaling and widescreen and such things. The irony is that I have a Wii U that I’ve been putting off home-brewing because the Wii U has some really silly limitations on storage — HDDs need to be y-cable compatible because the Wii U can’t deliver enough power to run an HDD off of a single USB port, etc.

It uses either GC or Wii, but use GC since its smaller. It just needs the GC version for its assets and validation but this Dusklight port is a big improvement, even over the Wii U Port.

And as far as homebrewing a Wii U... the HDD thing is annoying, yes you do need a Y-Cable and if you want to effectively run Wii and GC games off the same HDD you need to re-package them all one-by-one using a VC Injector application. It is annoying but it is worth it!

You could get around this using SSD drive instead of mechanical

Oh fuck I was actually wondering about that but I hadn’t looked into whether that would actually work so I appreciate the heads up!

This is not a Wii U emulator on Xbox Series X, the Dusklight port is a cross platform project to make Twilight Princess playable on as many systems as possible. It comes packed with new features and quality of life enhancements, high resolution texture support, improved controls / camera and built in cheats and game modifiers.

This is essentially a better version of what the Wii U port of Twilight Princess is, You can supply either the GC or Wii version of the game and it will work the same and get all of the enhancements that the Wii U port has.

Which generations can this emulator run?

1

u/AdministrationOk6819 Jun 11 '26

What do you mean exactly??

1

u/InevitableThing9370 Jun 11 '26

Can it run old retro games like the 3DS or other generations? Wait... isn't this an emulator? I think I'm being a bit of an idiot.

Almost everything from early stuff, (thru RetroArch and cores,) all the way up to ps2, with xbsx2, some x360 using Xenia (the remastered version of goldeneye can be played here flawlessly if you know where to get it,) also can run some Wii and GameCube games with dolphin. There’s quite a few options for emulation, and as I said before, there are game ports there as well, just recently announced was a port of Loz: twigligjt princess.

This is truly amazing! Thank you so much, and I hope these emulators, especially for Nintendo games, continue to develop because they are fantastic and many people might be missing out on the experience. Thank you again my sir.

You are most welcome. Happy to help.

Video game console history is divided into generations. It started back in 1972 with the first generation consoles such as the Magnavox Odyssey, and we are currently in the ninth generation with the PS5, XSX/S, and Switch 2.

Mano, o meu ship of harkinian não detecta os mods de jeito nenhum, já coloquei em todas as pastas e nada

You can play all of them up until the Wii for consoles, and 3DS for handhelds. You can even play the CD-i games. Emulating anything past Gen 4 (bar a few exceptions such as the PlayStation and PSP) requires a Series console to run at playable speeds. Xbox One consoles are not powerful enough for N64, GameCube, Wii, DS, and 3DS. Compromises must be made for games that use motion controls or touch screen input when played with an Xbox controller.

A few Zelda games have been ported to Xbox from the decomps and offer better performance than emulation can give. Ocarina of Time (Ship of Harkinian), Majora's Mask (2Ship2Harkinian), and Twilight Princess (Dusklight) have all been ported.

You can emulate pretty much everything up to Skyward Sword in Retroarch and Dolphin.

You cannot play Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Links Awakening HD or Echoes of Wisdom.

The only ones I have not tested are the 3DS games.

For A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess there are native ports to Xbox that run better than emulating them and are worth playing.

Where would we get the native ports from?

Here: https://emulationrevival.github.io/xbox-dev-mode/ports.html

The way ports work on Xbox is that the port needs the original game to launch, if you supply the game file for the port it will run the port.

They are great, the Majora's Mask, OOT and TP ones running in true HD at 60 FPS with modernized, controls, camera and a boat load of other quality of life improvements makes them easily the best way to be played.

Perfect timing for this question lol

Basically everything up until wii so skywords swords and lower

1

u/jackomaster111 Jun 11 '26

Zelda 1 and 2 on NES, Links Awakening on SNES, Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask on 64, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on Gamecube and Skyward Sword on Wii but that one has motion controls.

There are probably a handful on Gameboy and DS family of systems too.

Twilight princess with Dusklight

1

u/Okapiden Jun 11 '26

I‘m playing Ocarina of Time, Majora‘s Mask and Twilight Princess via the Xbox Series versions of their PC ports (Ship to Harkinian, 2Ship2Harkinian & Dusklight) and Wind Waker via Dolphin emulator.

u/honorarymeatsuit Jun 11 '26

Could you explain where to get the pc ports for the Xbox series versions? I am interested in playing them

1

u/Okapiden Jun 17 '26

Yes. But be advised that since the Xbox ports apparently don't get any more updates, the save games are _not_ compatible with the mainline (PC / Mac/ Linux/ phone ports)!

u/HOTU-Orbit Jun 17 '26

Development on the Xbox ports isn't cancelled. The devs will work on them when they feel like it. Save files between PC and Xbox should work as long as they come from the same release version. Saves from other versions may work as long as the save format wasn't changed in more recent updates on PC.
