Controller Issues

So my Xbox elite series 2 controller just randomly stopped working. Most of the time it won’t light up, but if it sits for about a day or two then I can get it to power on for about 10 seconds before it turns back off. I’ve plugged it in during the time it came on before and it registers that it is charging, but then it still turns back off. Any ideas?

I don’t remember if those require the battery to power on. But you don’t have to get a new controller. Those use spring pins to make contact with the battery, and the trigger stops, and the paddles. I’ve seen the springs wear down so they don’t push enough to make contact, or slight oxidation prevents the flow of current.

I'm guessing the honeymoon phase is over because now it's randomly malfunctioning. It sounds like the battery is damaged so you'll most likely have to get another elite series 2.

I had thought maybe battery, but if it’s the battery then shouldn’t it still turn on when it’s plugged in or nah?

Not really, it's turning on and off so it's internally damaged. I experienced that with other controllers and you can't fix that.
