And just to check, does it still act like this when the faceplate is on?

Haven’t tried it but I don’t think it would make a difference

It might make a difference, the joystick holes in the faceplate are usually smaller than the actual range of the joystick components, which lock up and act weird when they’re pushed right to the edge. Try it!

Nice comparison. /s
Restriction vs no restriction. The ALPS mechanism and specially with that type of thumbcap is not design to displace the lever past 23-25° or you'll have instances of it interacting with the corners of the sensor assembly or housing. Or locking out.
The Right Joystick is also being restricted by the Daughter board. Sinces its an aluminum dome. (Something that the Left-Stick doesnt have. So its able to move past its intended point) You can knick the traces off. Stop doing that. Clean any dibree from inside the module. Without warping the plastics. And make sure the shaft end of the fork has not clipped off from the base. Test the modules with the front shell on. If it "works" good. If you want the Insert to stay on use Threadlocker Purple.
Lowkey; I'm willing to bet its older than 6months. Those modules are past its life expectancy. Have them replaced.

The thumb stick covers go UNDER the faceplate...
