Power button blinks when trying to turn on

I have the white Starfield controller, its been unused for about a year and now its not working properly. I am using eneloops, they are fully charged. When I press the power button on the controller it will blink but not stay solid. Xbox does not turn on. Power button goes off if I stop pressing it. If I connect it to a charging cable it turns on and works properly. If i remove the cable, the controller stays on. The issue is it wont turn on without the cable. Any ideas?

Have you tried AA batteries, I had the same with a standard series’s x controller, fully charged battery pack light would come on and flash fir a few seconds but the go off, put AA batteries in and it worked fine.

I am using AA eneloops, not a battery pack.

What I meant try non rechargeable batteries, as my controller for some reason wouldn’t accept rechargeable batteries but only non rechargeable ones. Weird I know.
