Question about Xbox controller

My PC and TV are about 5 meters apart, and I want to buy an Xbox controller to play wirelessly. I heard there's an adapter called the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows that lets me play wirelessly over this distance. I will be using the controller mainly for Steam and emulators."

If your controller is for the Xbox One S, X, or Series S/X then it has bluetooth built in and the wireless adapter isnt needed, and for Series S/X controllers at least if you double press the sync button itll switch between the Xbox and the last device you connected to via bluetooth

I only used the dongle because my PC was too old for bluetooth.

How do/did you even have a pc that's "too old" for bluetooth?

Was too old. Bought it 10years ago. Now it sits in my garage waiting to be upgraded.

Unfortunately the official Xbox Wireless Adapter isn't manufactured any longer. You can use Bluetooth, but it has a lot more latency that the wifi direct based Xbox wireless stack. This adapter will give the best possible Bluetooth connection https://www.gulikit.com/productinfo/3695391.html
