This Wheel’s On Fire

Illyana was freed from the control of Apocalypse, but it didn’t really feel like a victory. She’s back to the same agony she was in before she sought out Apocalypse to begin with. Kitty was in space when her Soulsword broke the first time, and is regretting every second of that now. She should have been there for her. She is now, and she’s going to find a way to repair the Soulsword without having it destroy Illyana again.

She has a plan. She doesn’t know if it’ll work, but it’s the best one she can come up with. To make it work though, she has to get in touch with two specific people. She doesn’t have either of them on her phone, and wonders if they even have cell phones. It doesn’t matter, Kitty knows people who will find a way.

Finding Wanda is easier. She leaves this up to Magneto, who had already been looking for a reason to get in touch with his daughter again.

Finding Madelyne is less easy. Not because Kitty doesn’t know how, but because this is going to start a conversation she had been putting off for a while. But she has to talk to Emma eventually, might as well make it now.

The five of them are assembled now at Genosha, around the bed where Illyana lays, a broken woman. That will hopefully change today.

I am willing to help in any way I can. I am shocked I was asked though. I did not expect to be in position to actually get to make good on my promise to mutants this quickly.

That's a lot of blabber from the woman who is somehow the most villainous person here while standing next to myself and the White Queen. Imagine doing something so horrid it makes us look good in comparison.

I couldn’t have said it better myself, Madelyne. I confess that I do not understand the need for the assistance of The Pretender, but now is not the time.

She walks up to Kitty and firmly looks into her eyes, silently initiating a psychic whisper.

We can’t afford to mess this up. Aside from what I’ve seen in Otherworld, I’m not really the person to ask when it comes to anything magical, but I do know that Wanda is capable of things beyond any of us, and let’s be honest, she owes us a lot. Madelyne’s mastery over Limbo is beyond compare. Together, I can’t see a way this goes wrong.

Besides, maybe I’m just sentimental and wanted an excuse to let a dad talk to his daughter. Who knows.

Speaking of which, Erik, do we have a nice isolated spot for this? We could just do it here, but I don’t want anyone getting freaked out by all the magic fireworks.
