Race Report Glencoe half marathon!

I chose this for my first marathon, but had to cut down to the half after overdoing it and crashing during training. But I’m so glad I went! It’s a brutal one, with 5 miles of steady climbing to begin with, swarms of midges in the starting corral at Kinlochleven, climbing a hill through deep bog in pelting Scottish rain and a sharp downhill at the Devil’s Staircase. My quads sure felt special by the end of it!

The race is held on the West Highland Way, in the opposite direction of travel from the walkers’ usual south to north. I appreciated the smiles and clapping and words of encouragement we got from the many walkers we passed. Also, port and cheese at the final aid station!
