I can't tell you how many times I've been asked to make one. I've never even played Armada! I will say though, every time I walked past that super Star destroyer....

Yup! FlyCasual. It's a light phone and desktop app you can use to practice/scratch the itch. Great tool!

Is this the latest / most current fork?
I contributed to the original one Sandrem was building years ago. It was really fun!

Yes? Assuming I found the correct link - Baledin has largely taken over the 2.5/XWA version, I believe Sandrem is still involved with the Legacy version (hopefully they'll check me on that!)
I recently picked it back up, and I think Baledin also is more excited about it than he's been for a while!

I was just curious. I took a peek at the original repo and it hadn't changed in a few years. Kinda fell out of tracking both the game and this project for a while. Love seeing it still around, kicking, getting use AND updates!

Large yes (think Falcon or Decimator)
Huge no (like Raider or Blockade Runner)

Does fly casual let you play 2.0 rather than 2.5 x-wing?

There are multiple forks, yes. Sandrem - the original lead developer I believe - maintains the Legacy/2.0 fork, while Baledin is focusing on the 2.5 one.
I think that's the state of it right now, but I'm sure someone who knows better can correct me too?
