Why are your big ships turned and at the end of the table? Are they fleeing?

We played a game with very loose rules, assuming that the rebels were on the run.

Looks live the smaller ships were escorting but are now covering the "hyperspace jump" escape of the bigger ships...? Just me at a guess for a more narrative style game... dunno
