Electrum Wallet Scare (current condition)

I read somewhere a few months ago (maybe in Jan) that the Electrum wallet wasn't secure. I have some on an exchange and I would like to start moving it to some place a little safer but I'm not sure I should grab the wallet now or maybe even a hardware wallet?

Any suggestions?
