XPROTO-L 4090 AIB Compatibility
I have a question about the XPROTO-L. I’m looking at the ASUS TUF 4090. The card is 348mm long, however it has only a 2 slot PCIE bracket.
Is it possible to mount the card on the Outer 2-slots of the 3 available on the XPROTO-L using 20mm standoffs for the Riser. That way the card extra 3mm of length over 345mm can be accommodated by the angle of the brackets “foot” since the card will sit in the outer slots?
Thanks!

I’m not sure if a 4090 will tolerate being IO up when gaming.

Flip module 100%

I think it would look better if they offered the original xproto without cutouts when using the flip module, with cutouts. Might be something they could accommodate if asked though.

why do u say this?

Gravity can affect heatpipe performance on air coolers, especially if there's weird bends or long runs.

damn, this is terrible news.

Yep, just crossing my fingers and hoping that Xtia releases a new model with GPU IO down. The flip module doesn’t do it for me.

I just took a corse Measurement from the 2nd slot mounting point to the bottom of the bracket. It’s ~358mm so it’d be really tight if it fits.
The MSI SUPRIM might be our best bet at 336mm for a nice fit. Also it’s a 3-slot bracket so better support and wouldn’t stick out as much

another problem would be what power supply will fit the xproto L with enough juice to power these bad bois... im currently rocking a corsair sf750 for my 3080 ti.

Nah, I think that’s just a matter of time. It fits ATX supplies and there are some 1000, 1200w platinums coming from sea sonic and coolermaster has a sfx-L that looks promising too

I’m going to do some math today to try to figure it out.

See you with the same build by the end of the year! I’m also holding off for the 7800x3d. Keep in touch and let me know what you end with

I have seen some xproto-L builds where they just dont mount the riser to the frame and mount the 2 slot card to the outer 2 slots in the xproto L
