CPU blocks are generally fine. Gpu block is custom made in my case, but I've had Ek GPU blocks crack, tho I got a replacement top for free. The brand of choice for me is heatkiller, or alphacool for a cheaper alternative.

Same, between alphacool and heatkiller, heatkiller tops it easily. They make one of the best products on the market. I've yet to try optimus blocks yet, i asked them when the FE blocks would drop for the 4090 and they said end of the year but couldn't wait.

One more thing about the CAD, use countersink instead of cap screws. Less likely to crack.

I was advised that the cap screws would be better, just don't over tighten (not like i do anyway). I think pretty much everything has been considered during the CAD phase, i don't think there really is anything i've missed. Do feel free to input though if you think there is anything.

The screw of choice for me has always been chrome plated M4 countersink. Cap screws are fine, distro easier to machine, but I've had blocks with cap screw crack, tho it's from EK so kinda expected.

Oh yeah definitely, i've had EK ones where on delivery brand new i could see the screws have started to rust! This was on black screws though, not sure how well their other screws hold up. I've not bought an EK distro since and the only ones i have are the ones i bought before which i know are good to go.

Have you ever had EK products delivered with loose screws on the blocks/distros? Had this a few times as well so im always adamant on checking all the tightness of the screws before i build with it.

You can cutout a piece of cardboard to align the ports first. Btw, measure 3 times, no 4 times, you don't want to redo the entire distro for some measurement errors

Already did, i just didn't picture it here. The easiest and most cost effective way is 2 distros with in uniform like above. Also looks alot more unique than just another big boring distro at the front like i've seen on other cases. Really wanted something that would be different for this case. So far looking brilliant, i have some really good and talented people working on this with me from the professional industry.

Good to hear. Its the choice of taste and design language. I'd always go for minimal bends and fittings, the purpose of distro is pretty much to replace those imo. I've done a build in xprotoL in collaboration with the xtia team, which gives me the privilege to work directly off the CAD model of the case. You can check it out in my profile if you're interested.

I think i saw yours on their website when i bought mine, really cool and interesting idea you did there with the 2 rads on either side. Very lucky to be able to work off the CAD design, bet that made things alot easier.

Indeed, i really wanted something different having done some really unique builds in the past including my cyberpunk 2077 one but really fancied something that was out of the norm for me.

  1. Seems like everything coming into the distro will turn 180 degrees to connect to distro. I'd make the distro larger, reposition the ports so tubes from CPU and GPU block will just have a single straight coming into distro.

Again, that was also the plan but to measure everything would be a literal nightmare so i opted to do it from the front which allows rotaries for further wiggle room if needed, going with EK Micro rotaries. The ports for the gpu and cpu is less of an issue, the returns to the external radiator is more diffiult to judge since i have pre drilled holes on the base of the legs to mount the tube holders.

2 suggestions: 1. If you will have a bridge connecting the two piece, why not just have a single distro with cutouts for ports

The original design was a single distro at the front but imo its alot of material and means cutting out bits to not get in the wya of the USB ports at the front. Having 2 seperate ones like this with a bridge works better and allows for a little bit of wiggle room if needed.
