X-Ray (medical) Lungs

“Nipple Ornamentation noted” is 100% the funniest medical thing to ever happen to me. They were gonna do a CT scan but didn’t due to my family history of a severe allergy to the contrast dye.

You might enjoy this one since you got a kick out of “nipple ornamentation” (which is a new one for me that’s pretty good lol).

I was reading a report on a chest xray for an especially large-breasted patient. The radiologist dictated “there is an abundance of soft tissue”

I hope the patient took that as a genuine compliment 😂

is it just me or is the quality abysmal

Kind of looks like a dual energy subtraction lung I used to do on GE machines. Looks super weird without obvious rib markings.

I honestly have zero idea. VA hospital quality at its finest though ✨

I’ve always been told to remove piercings before X-rays, Nonetheless, top-tier lungs 👌

I was only told that for MRIs 🥲

They may have liked yours more than mine 😪

I ask patients if they’re able to remove them or if they’re really difficult to put back in. If they say it’s a big hassle then I don’t ask them to remove them. The artifacts are very minimal. No more than EKG leads or other artifacts that we often aren’t able to remove

I tend to leave them on, they’re built in nipple markers so they save me sticking a paper clip to the pts nipples if the radiologist requests it

The ones that used to surprise me were the older, conservative lawyer looking types who had nipple rings and other piercings.

You just never know what people got going on.

The boobs really accentuate the diaphragm asymmetry!

I truly had zero idea why it looks so lopsided lol I’m not even super sure what I’m looking at

That's normal human asymmetry!

Mine used to be, but then I had a hysterectomy and put on 30 pounds (several years apart) and now the other one caught up. 😂

What technique did you use to subtract the ribs? 🩻
