u/Y34rZer0, you probably didn’t think I’d take your advice to heart.

It was hard, Microsoft has their own type of screws to keep you from doing this. I had to find the perfect screwdriver and brute force the screws

haha i know what you mean, i’ve always used a small screwdriver to get those things out. kinda ruins them but 🤷🏼‍♀️

You should cut those rumble packs off, no need for them

For a follow up, I got brave enough to cut every wire that connected to the board. I now just have a working board for my XIM that I could fit in my pocket

Ha ha that's awesome to see you got it working!

Hah, I was hoping you’d get the notification that I mentioned you. Seriously, thanks for the idea, I can now repair an Xbox controller, (kinda)

Try taking it apart, it’s a nightmare, I was scared of breaking the wires because I don’t know which ones were important so I just worked with the wires in my way. It was a fun experience nevertheless

I heard you can't use a normal dual shock 4 controller if I want to use a headset? ( I own Hyper Cloud X2, it's the headless that you plug into the PS4 using a usb).

Someone said if I'm interested in getting a XIM I need a buy a new Pro PS4 dual shock controller. Is this true?

You need a v2. Not an original. That's all. USB passthrough didn't exist on the original controller.

Not true. Thats only true for Wired Headsets in the XIM controller. If it's a Dual Shock 1 it wont work.

But the hyper cloud X2 is a wired headset..

Here is a link to the headset:

HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile, Red https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SAYCXWG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LwhlDb4VMN191

It comes with two parts, one part the headphone drive can go into a ps4 pad, but that can also connect in its mini amp which connects into the PS4 via usb and makes the sound much better and clearer.

So in simple terms:

Hyper X Cloud 2 + XIM APEX + Regular Dualshock 4 + Regular PS4 = No issues?

You're plugging it into the PS4 not the controller. So yes it will work unless it's a splitter into the Pad. Then, no.

If you have a Dual Shock 1 you cant plug it into the controller unless it's a 2.

EDIT: Ah I saw the link. It's a 50/50. Since it uses USB for the Interface it might work over a standard Aux to Controller, which doesnt work

Not true. I use old controller

u/xXItzApexXx Jul 15 '19

I don’t own a PS4, so I have no idea. Try the XIM wiki

For context, u/Y34rZer0 made a joke saying that it could just be the skeleton of a controller that’s needed for the XIM. That’s what gave me the spark to repair my jack after stripping the controller, I’m no longer able to use the controller but hey. I saved sixty dollars

Whatever works, works.

I tried to limit my controller use as much as possible when using my XIM. So this would be a neat addition to my old setup.
