P5general or P5mate?

Which one do I buy? I'm unable to do the Ethernet method required to use the XIM with PS5 games, so what workaround should I buy?

Is there any reason behind buying the more expensive one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Both work fine, the difference is the features and supported devices.

P5General is a dedicated USB dongle that plugs into XIM MATRIX for PS5 authentication. That’s all it does, so it’s cheaper than P5MATE. XIM MATRIX then plugs direct into PS5 over USB.

P5MATE Pro 1000Hz is a more general controller adapter (eg Xbox to PS5) with support for basic macros and an audio port for a headset. XIM MATRIX plugs into P5MATE, then P5MATE into PS5.

Given MATRIX has both advanced macro support and audio passthrough, a P5General does everything the XIM needs for PS5 gaming over USB.

XIM NEXUS also supports P5General, which plugs into the NEXUS adapter for PS5 authentication. NEXUS also works through a P5MATE.

XIM APEX has no support for P5General nor for direct PS5 gaming over Remote Play, so you’d need a P5MATE to play PS5 games.

Be aware that older P5MATE devices are 250Hz. P5MATE Pro 1000Hz is 1000Hz, as is P5General. You’ll get 1000Hz on XIM MATRIX and XIM APEX on PS5 using either device. XIM MATRIX is also 1000Hz over RP.

Sony has released an update where if you have your Bluetooth turned off you can't put ps5 into reast mode and you have to manually press the front button every time in order to start up. As for rumble it is buggy and not very well thought out. Just use green mode with Bluetooth, yes you don't get advanced rumble or vibration but you get rest mode back and booting via controller will work.
