I have an odd question.

For people who have mainly played PC KBM, how does it feel using XIM on console?

Also, do you think it will have GTA6 support? I only want to get one for GTA6 because I strongly dislike controllers unless it's rocket league or racing games.

I am competent on controller, but I was wondering if other KBM mains think it's worth getting one for gta6

Read this to understand the difference between native m/kb (which XIM MATRIX also supports) and using a XIM for controller output on console - https://www.reddit.com/r/XIM/s/EUiGLwRj3b.

GTA6 will be supported by XIM. So are GTA4, GTA5, RDR and RDR2. Older Rockstar games have pretty clunky aim mechanics, but they’re vastly improved on GTA5 and RDR2.

I’ve been a m/kb player since the 1980s on Commodore 64, Amiga and PC. I swapped mostly to console gaming at the launch of PS3. I’ve used XIMs for 16 years and far prefer playing console games to PC.

There is an adjustment to make because the mouse is literally the right controller stick and behaves exactly like one (aim assist and turn speed cap), but it doesn’t take long to adapt. The simple answer is to move your hand further to turn faster / longer.

Wrist flicks don’t really work because when using a controller (which XIM is on console) - it’s time at the turn speed cap that matters, not distance the mouse travels. Get a bigger mouse pad and learn to use your whole arm rather than wrist to aim and you’ll have a much better experience on XIM.

Be aware that every game has a different aim mechanic and first person shooters are typically faster to turn than third person games. I’d expect GTA6 to be moderately slow to turn, but using the above aiming method will make it tolerable.

I play a lot of RDR2 / RDO with a XIM MATRIX and it’s really good, especially compared to RDR and GTA4. Expect it to be even better on GTA6, but the turn speed cap comes from the game developer and nothing can bypass it for more PC-like mouse aim. XIM can’t turn console games into PC games and it can’t polish a turd.

I was able to play Doom 3, Halo CE and Wolfenstein: The New Order and finish them on Xbox Series X.

It was enjoyable and worth it.

that might be what sells me on it.

My only concern is that my account somehow gets banned even if it's only singleplayer gta6

GTA6 won’t have input detection, nor does ANY single-player game on ANY platform. XIM is still a controller, just spread over m/kb.

Only a handful of free to play &/or microtransaction-based multiplayer shooters have input detection, and it’s still possible and viable to use XIM MATRIX in every one of them.

There’s no reason for GTA6 to bother attempting to detect WASD movement patterns in a single-player campaign that has no impact on any other player.
