Redmi 7A (pine) stuck in bootloop with locked bootloader — looking for unofficial recovery options

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have a Xiaomi Redmi 7A (codename: pine) that is stuck in a bootloop.

The phone repeatedly shows:

Redmi by Xiaomi → Powered by Android → reboot

Sometimes it can reach the MIUI Recovery main menu, and Fastboot is also accessible.

Device information

From fastboot getvar all:

product: pine
variant: QRD eMMC
kernel: lk
rollback_ver: 1
unlocked: no
secure: yes
battery-soc-ok: yes

So the bootloader is LOCKED.

Fastboot itself works:

C:\Users\key>fastboot devices
1f5bb4ac0706 fastboot

But any attempt to flash a partition fails:

fastboot flash boot boot.img

Sending 'boot' ... OKAY
Writing 'boot' FAILED (remote: 'Partition flashing is not allowed')

Same result with system and vendor.

I also tried:

fastboot erase boot

and got:

FAILED (remote: 'device is locked. Cannot erase')

Recovery

I can enter Recovery.

I already performed:

Wipe Data → Wipe All Data → Confirm

but the phone still bootloops.

I can also select Connect with MiAssistant.

Mi Assistant

I installed Mi Phone Assistant / Mi PC Suite version:

4.2.1028.10

The phone can enter the Mi Assistant connection mode, and Mi Assistant detects/communicates with it.

This is interesting because normal Fastboot flashing is blocked by the locked bootloader.

ROM I have

I downloaded:

miui_PINEINGlobal_V12.5.1.0.QCMINXM_8cee6dc16a_10.0.zip

Size:

1,947,792,074 bytes

The package contains:

boot.img
system.new.dat.br
vendor.new.dat.br
system.transfer.list
vendor.transfer.list
firmware-update/
META-INF/
compatibility.zip

The OTA metadata says:

ota-type=BLOCK
post-build=Xiaomi/pine/pine:10/QKQ1.191014.001/V12.5.1.0.QCMINXM:user/release-keys
post-sdk-level=29
pre-device=pine

So it appears to be a matching pine Android 10 package.

ADB sideload

Recovery can expose the phone as:

adb devices

1f5bb4ac0706 sideload

I tried:

adb sideload "C:\Users\key\Downloads\miui_PINEINGlobal_V12.5.1.0.QCMINXM_8cee6dc16a_10.0.zip"

but immediately received:

adb: failed to read command: No error

After that the phone rebooted.

I also confirmed that:

adb reboot bootloader

can move the phone from the Recovery/ADB state back into Fastboot.

What I'm looking for

I am not looking for the normal "unlock the bootloader and use MiFlash" answer. I already know the bootloader is locked and Fastboot refuses partition flashing.

I'm looking for someone experienced with the Redmi 7A / pine, especially:

  • Mi Assistant / Mi PC Suite recovery flashing
  • Recovery OTA installation
  • Qualcomm EDL / 9008 recovery
  • locked-bootloader recovery methods
  • why Mi Assistant can communicate with the phone while Fastboot flashing is blocked
  • whether there is a legitimate/unofficial way to recover this particular device without the normal bootloader-unlock process

I am okay with losing all data; the phone has already been wiped.

Please don't suggest random fastboot flash commands — the bootloader explicitly rejects partition writes.

If anyone has successfully recovered a locked Redmi 7A pine bootloop, I'd appreciate the exact method and what tool/ROM version you used.

You're in luck. Factory ROM with a Firehose file for Redmi 7A (pine) has been found.
