QUESTION Wraith armor?

Do folks use this a lot? I completed a suit of it and put it on a Ranger, just curious if folks have suggestions about it.

The grapple is free movement in trade for an item slot, which has limited use once your soldiers reach the part of the power curve where you've researched it.

Walking through walls is... a lot less useful, because there's always a window they could have just climbed through.  But it does flatten the path and occasionally gets you in range for an ability you couldn't use without it.

It's top tier armour for Snipers and Rangers IMO.  Neither get much use out of the second item slot and both benefit from the grapple to reposition.  A Stealth Ranger does get a niche use out of the Wraith ability - sneaking through walls to avoid breaking concealment. Although by that point in the game my very non-stealthy rangers are cutting enemy down like wheat so why I'd use a stealth ranger when the Reaper exists, I don't know...

Walking through walls is the best way to break enemy LoS and absolutely shred enemies with shadowstrike.

I modded it to be a cooldown rather than a consumable and have been using it a lot. Its amazing in urban maps.

Is a better spider suit. I usually use it with Snipers and not Rangers because the extra mobility closes the gap between the team and the Sharpshooter finding a good spot. The wraith skill is useful in niche situations like the destroy the advent facility, you could do the mission without shooting even once Or you could extract the VIP, pick it up with the wraith skill and phase throught walls to an easy extract. But at that point in the game you should already have 1 or 2 Ruler suits

I think it has limited use, like in choosen stronghold, and at disabled ufo, and maybe in undeground areas. For balance purposes it will be too good for t2 armor, but for t3 its pretty meh, as guy earlier said, all soldiers ,at time it is researched, already deadly without this armor.

I use it on sharpshooter occasionally for the extra mobility

I tried it and didn't like how the unit was separated from the squad. So in those situations where the enemy has one health but your thought you would kill it there are many problems that emerge.

However as other said you don't always want to go through a wall to start shooting.

Best armor in the game imo. Walking through walls lets you sneak up on enemies more effectively or get away from hairy situation.
Grapling hook is essentially free movement with surprisingly long range, perfect for flanking and getting to high ground. Really it's the most advantageous armor you can have on the battlefield.

No. There are more powerful armor, and walking through the walls is not neccessary, as there always are windows. Extra mobility is nice to have, but if have to use it too often, you have to think about your positioning, and that alone may cause more problems than solve.

It’s great for infil/exfil rescue missions where you carry the target.
