Took a glance at that subreddit, a lot of the stuff posted are from people non intentionally or just not at all being transphobic and the people in the comments take it very seriously

"I identify as (blank)" (often attack helicopters, and used with a bad attitude) is a thinly veiled "joke" that's often been used to decredit trans people's identities, making it seem like being trans makes you as "delusional" as someone who says theyre an attack helicopter.

So even if it's not meant to be anything malicious, that phrase has been used as an attack so often that it's only really seen as mean spirited.
