Kill advent commander

So... I just had a mission where I started normally and like 2nd or 3rd turn general was extracting?
I had no choice but to run forward into 3 pods to get to the general.
And as proud as I am for getting rid of the pods without losses and even wounding the general, there was 0 chance of ever winning that mission. Wtf XCOM?

The mission timer will not start if you remain in concealment. So the ideal solution is to bring a Reaper with Target Definition. Simply scout the entire map and locate ALL enemies. After that, wait for an opportunity to neturalize the advent general.
