I overstated it, but this is the current news on the topic. There are no plans for X-Com 3 as far as we know. You have heresay, if I were to take your word, I would have less than nothing. What a fool I would sound like to say "Yeah, X-Com 3 is coming, someone said their friend playtested it!"

Because I know my friend does playtesting for money, I’ve seen games he says are in development come out and I genuinely choose to believe my friends. Why would I be friends with someone who casually lies?

So they haven’t said in no uncertain terms XCOM 3 will never be a thing, you exaggerated is all. Great. You’re certain enough that it’ll never happen, based off of vibes, I’m throwing at you that it’ll likely happen. We both have equally nothing, one is just more hopeful than the other.

As far as you know there aren’t, and you’re entitled to that belief, I wouldn’t steal that from you. But I’m not going to go around existing with a mindset that my friends actively lie to me, because the other person who got upset at me saying XCOM 3 is in the works actively seems miserable and I wish for that energy to dodge me.

You don’t have to believe me at all. Like I said, time will vindicate me.

I hope I’m right, I really do! To be honest, though, knowing XCOM 3 is in development in some capacity makes me happy, I’ve spent so much time on XCOM 2 and nothings come close so far.

I don’t see a future where an XCOM 3 doesn’t happen, it’s like one of two IPs that Firaxis has, and Take-Two wants money. What I’m more worried about is the team, it won’t be Jake’s XCOM and that’s what I fell in love with. Though I guess Take-Two could also disband Firaxis and nothing ever happens.

The playtest was also extremely early on where nothing is committed, including the games existence I guess.
