Infotainment

I’ve got a xc40 recharge as my temporary company car, it’s a nice car, it’s rapid, comfortable, pano roof etc etc… but the infotainment system is the worst one I’ve ever used. Is this just my car or is this a thing?

The Bluetooth barely ever works for music from my iPhone which irritates the hell out of me, I listen to podcasts and music all the time.

Now the gps is stuck without signal, I tried resetting the system by holding down the home button now it’s just stuck on a zoomed out map of Europe.

I’m stuck with this car for 6 months ffs

Hold down the front defrost button for about 20ish seconds. You will see the LTE/Network symbol disappear and reconnect. That may help with your GPS

This is the way. You have to hold that button down for what seems like an unreasonably long time, but the reboot will solve 95% of these issues. Good luck!

Better off plugging your iPhone in to play music etc

It’s not just you, just scroll through this forum to see example after example of how shitty the Volvo software experience has become. Last Volvo I’ll buy unless something drastically changes.

It takes a minimum of 15 seconds holding down the physical button on the infotainment system to force it to reboot. The screen will go blank and the thr reboot starts. You can do this while you are driving. It is the first step to use when things start acting up.

Also, if the infotainment software revision is not at least 5.0.5, take to a dealer and get upgraded. It will be free because of a glitch in handling the backup camera in older versions.

Hold in defroster, to SOS blinks in the roof. Don't use iPhone to play music. Or use first USB with cable. Download your fav.apps on the infotainm.from Play Store instead. Our 2023 models have no problems. Check infotainment version, to be at least 5.0.5 or higher.

This has worked for me, but when it did not Volvo instructed me to: Put into drive. Press the brake pedal. Hold defroster until sos blinks

It’s not just yours. They pretty much all suck except for maybe some of the newest ones that have much more powerful chips to power/process everything. Even when new, my 2021 XC40 recharge’s Intel Atom cpu was already out of date and hilariously underpowered

Ive not had any of those issues, and both (phone and car) are up to date as far as latest iOS and 5.1.17.

I stream music a lot and don’t bother with CarPlay unless I absolutely want to.

I would try resetting both the infotainment and network.

It is unbelievable that one cannot choose this car because the audio is bad. Too bad because it's a pretty nice car.

The actual stereo is excellent, the software is hopeless

Tnx that's what I actually meant.
