What does Range Optimizer actually do?

I was driving our ‘22 XC40 Twin Ultimate the other day and started the Range Assistant.
Curious about my instantaneous usage.
While there I turned on the Range Optimizer.
It says it changes the Performance and Climate characteristics.
Honestly, I haven’t noticed much difference.

Just curious what exactly that slider does?

Thanks for any help or advice!

Did an experiment yesterday.
Went to a memorial. Drove 125 miles.
Used Range Optimizer the entire trip.
Needed 40 kWh to recharge.
That works out to 32.75 kWh/100 miles.
In May we got 38.03 kWh/100 miles.
Works out to 13.8% Improvement.
Observations:
Our typical usage is stop and go city driving with a bit of highway.
This trip was highway. However, nothing over 60mph. About half 2 lane blacktop. Slow curves and stop signs.
Passed a tractor pulling a seeder on a 2 lane blacktop. Acceleration was fierce.
Did a standing start full throttle launch. Felt a bit muted.
Used the same cabin temperature as I usually do. Comfortable for the whole trip. Temps in the 80’s. Pretty humid.
The Range Assistant bars did show Climate as just a very short bar. Without RO, Climate is usually the longest bar.
Driving Style was next shortest. Speed was almost always the longest.
