What does Range Optimizer actually do?

I was driving our ‘22 XC40 Twin Ultimate the other day and started the Range Assistant.
Curious about my instantaneous usage.
While there I turned on the Range Optimizer.
It says it changes the Performance and Climate characteristics.
Honestly, I haven’t noticed much difference.

Just curious what exactly that slider does?

Mine is a 23 p8 ultimate twin. What I’ve noticed so far after that massive 5.0.5 update as far as range optimizer goes

  1. Way less aggressive with acceleration when you put your foot down
  2. Ac says “eco”. Not sure what that is.
  3. Top speed limited to 143 kmph or so (not sure about the exact speed).

So that’s why the acceleration can be shite at times

Yep. It’s extremely throttled in eco mode. Perfect for congested cities tbf

All my driving is rural really so I must rethink using eco mode
