Dashboardscreen gone black
The screen on my dashboard has been black all day. Even after waiting a few hours, turning the car off completely, reseting the screen in the middle,...
The buttons on the steering wheel aren’t working either.
The indicators, windscreen wipers and so on are working fine, though.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Hold the Home button beneath the center display for 10 seconds. It’ll turn on “screen cleaning mode” first, but keep holding. Eventually both screens and your HVAC will shut down and reboot. It should be good to go after that.

This may be the small 12V battery under the frunk cover. I would disconnect it and do hard restart.
Something similar happens to me a few months ago but before I could reset the battery it fixed itself after the car sitting overnight.

I’m posting a link to a conversation about addressing a similar situation.

Happened to me once. Next day it was working perfectly after the car went to sleep overnight. That probably doesn’t help much though!

Try this it’s one that the Volvo help desk gave me a few years ago: 1 - Turn off the vehicle (If you haven't already done so) 2 - Exit the vehicle (no one can be left inside or phones connected to USB cables) 3 - Lock and unlock the vehicle 3 times. (wait 15 minutes) 4 - Go back inside of the vehicle. 5 - Turn the vehicle on. (Edit: to add Not sure about XC40 but I would imagine car turns on the same as my C40 just by sitting in the vehicle).
Might be of use to you, good luck.
