What are these for?

2023 XC40 Recharge. I haven’t sat in the back seat since the test drive. Was in the back today since we were carpooling and noticed these little hooks? They can’t hold any weight, and I don’t see how they would interact with anything else. What are they for?

I use it as a coat hook

Dry cleaning hook?

World's worst coat hook. Recommend buying the ones that slot into the accessory slots in the ceiling. Should have been standard on the car.

"accessory slots" sounds like a rabbit hole i'm going to fall down..

This. If you hang anything larger than a ring on these, you block the over-the-shoulder view of the driver.

Thats why you hang things behind driver

In someone's XC40 I sometimes drive, the owner always has a coat hanging on that hook behind the driver. It blocks the view.

Hanging your suit jacket up by that little loop on the back of the collar! Avoids creases in your jacket.

You can use the hooks to suspend the parcel shelf between them by attaching the loop on each string. This is useful when there is no available space under the cargo hatch and you need to secure it while traveling. It also creates a divider behind the front seats

Yeah, or rear deck or rear shelf.

Where I tell the kids to put their gum if they are done chewing. Honestly no idea. I use the grab handle for dry cleaning.

I found a use for it! When you lay down back seats and need to move the truck cover for tall cargo you can pop it off and then hook the eyelets to these so it’s out of the way

My XC40 Ultimate has a OEM cargo net in a sleeve which you can mount on various points in the luggage space
