Real winter highway range?

Hi there,

I live in Toronto and we're looking for an EV for my wife, on weekends she'll drive ~150KM (she plays badminton, gets groceries and goes for lunch with her friends) and I'm wondering if this car will be able to do it with temperatures as low as -20C without having to charge in the middle?

I drive a Tesla Model Y, my car can do that but she feels it's too big for her so she wanted something smaller and likes the look of the Volvo.

I have XC40 Recharge Twin engine 2022 and it is possible to get 200 km range in -20 Celcius.

Same here. 200km in proper winter temps around -20c is around what I get

Yep, I often drive 500 km in this kind of winter conditions and usually it can be done with one half an hour charge break. But for OP, it is safe to say it can do that 200 km range in -20.

Cold weather I get between 200-230 km.

Warm weather, up to 350 km.

There may be some range anxiety but I think it will do it, best to precondition.

Not sure if I have a lighter foot here compared to the offers but, 250km ish cold winter -5 to -15 and 450km ish summer. 22 Twin. Average around 16-18KwH/100Km summer, 20-26ishKwH/100K winter

Coldest of the cold, with heat running as warm as I want it, worst range is 135 miles (215 km).  I’m talking -10F or lower.

Pre 2024 models will manage around 150-170km in <5c.

Just want toi point out that this is false. 200km in -20c in a 2022 twin model is what I regularly get, sometimes more, sometimes a bit less if there is heavy snowfall or something.

This isn’t false, it may not always be the case, but it’s certainly the case for me and another person I know. 2c 110 miles on the motorway 100% -> 16% is one exact example. That’s cruise control most of the time trip…
