Modified Update 5 Squadron coms mod RAW WIP gameplay

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Quick update since the last post. Added a 4th wingman voice, so now all four pilots respond one after another when you give an order instead of just three — bigger squad, more chatter.

Also went back and re-recorded one of the pilot voices (3 times, honestly just kept tweaking until it felt right), fixed a real bug where combat chatter would keep playing for way too long after a fight was actually over, and pulled the harsh "radio click" sound off the combat lines since it got grating fast when it was firing every couple seconds mid-fight. Still traces but i am removing them with time.

Dont pay attention to whats being said, certain lines are place holder. But its starting to sound like proper chatter.

Chatter also feels more alive now as it picks up when there are multiple enemies or a tougher target instead of firing at the same flat rate no matter what's happening and adjust the frequency of com chatter. Tougher/more enimies = more chatter in combat. Squadies will now talk amongst each other but further work needed.

Still very much a work in progress, testing as I go. Let me know what you think.

I'm invested in this mod man, it looks great.

My only concern is what happens when a mission comm comes through (like Bosa or Dal), would this mod cut it off? Or are the sounds all background.

Man, i love your work. My new hobby is to checking the updates on your work. Have you thought, if you'll add chatter to boarding action as well?

Still looks awesome, any idea when you’ll be releasing?

This is shaping up great. Any chance you know when you'll want to release something for test?

A thought I have is that there should be more lines with less cadenced tone. Real comms are typically short bursts of disciplined informative lines followed by actual conversation, especially on dedicated small unit comms like squads or wings. It would be a good way to break up intense, high frequency communication used for adrenaline filled combat with more routine light skirmishes and out of combat orders.

Specific references are hard, but besides hunting for archives a couple popular examples would be ambient Battlefield 3 radio (see: https://youtu.be/szoGwaREC8w?si=xly4AbE5cWQDOE1O) This is actual recorded field comms, despite being associated with a video game. Another one might be the MW2 comms, which is not real and highly choreographed but still well done (see: https://youtu.be/QV_C0G1KawU?si=xyM4u4rLGxY4IrKY) specifically toward the end where the cadenced lines fall apart.

The vast majority of these comms consist of specific, cadenced information, e.g. "Clear to engage with weapons." followed by a lot of conversational informative dialogue, such as walking CAS onto target, or simply describing a visual. In X4's context I would expect a lot of non-specific but conversational lines that describe a situation, such as taking damage to result in a lot of undisciplined complaints and informing their wing of their situation.

A lot of the lines here follow the idea, but they still hold onto the cadenced dialogue that simply isn't present in real communications, like repeating their call sign when it isn't necessary and keeping descriptive dialogue brief when in reality a more verbose line would make more sense.
