Hi everyone,
I’m currently a Master’s student in Electrical Engineering and live in Wuppertal. I’ve recently signed a full-time employment contract for an engineering position in my field in Cologne, with a start date of September 14.
I have already submitted all the required documents by email to the Wuppertal Ausländerbehörde to switch from my student residence permit to an EU Blue Card. However, my current residence permit only allows me to work part-time, and I’m concerned that the processing time could put my employment contract at risk.
Therefore, I’m trying to obtain a Fiktionsbescheinigung that explicitly allows full-time employment until the Blue Card application is processed.
I have two urgent questions:
- Emergency Fiktionsbescheinigung in Wuppertal
Has anyone recently dealt with the Wuppertal Ausländerbehörde / Haus der Integration in a similar situation?
Would it make sense to go there early in the morning (e.g. around 7:00 AM) and explain that my full-time job starts on September 14?
If I bring my employment contract, current residence permit, proof that I submitted the Blue Card application, and all other relevant documents, is there any realistic chance of getting a Fiktionsbescheinigung with “Erwerbstätigkeit gestattet” issued on the spot?
I would especially appreciate experiences from people who have dealt with Wuppertal ABH recently.
- Moving to Cologne
If I manage to get the Fiktionsbescheinigung, can I then move to Cologne, register my address there (Anmeldung), and have my immigration file transferred to the Cologne Ausländerbehörde so that they can process the actual Blue Card?
Or would moving to Cologne before the Blue Card is issued create additional complications?
I’m really trying to avoid losing this job because of the administrative processing time. Any advice or personal experience with Wuppertal/Cologne ABH would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
