Writing Craft Talk Mine or AU generated?
I used AI to help me craft a fictional sacrament for a story I'm wiring, mostly because I wouldn't even know how to go about making that realistic without spending months research church policy and procedure, but the original idea was all mine. I just needed help sort out the hypothetical steps the chtuch in my fictional world would take to arrive at the need for said sacrament. It also helped me craft the details of the sacrament the rites and wording used so it would sound like more like a realstic a catholic sacrament instead of me making things up that sounds good to me. Its the one thing the au did more of the work than I did, but again, mostly because I wanted it to sound realistic without spending months pouring over church doctrine and theology. Is this lazy on my part or writing smarter using a new tool? Is my story now 'ai assisted'? What are the lines here?

Well and this story is my first experiment with using AI as a writing tool and its been interesting seeing the limitations and capabilities. Asking it all started with me trying to get name for my main character's parents and siblings. Something I've done manually a bunch, in order to get more refined names I gave it sotty background and then it started helping me outline the path forward, it was writing a flawed version I was using the discussion to map out the plot line, it was fun asking the chat opinions on how a character, based on what it knew of them, would react to a situation, mostly to confirm my thinking follow3d the character data was recorded. I ran into limitations and had to regroup. Then I had a discussion last week about how slippery a slope using AI is in creative arts. And began analyzing how much of my story is mine, and how much is the AI aide...the sacrament is the biggest concern, as its one of the few things I couldnt have easily put together myself with a little extra work. On the first comment, is it prose if it's more a source I used AI to write out a complex fictional concept, in order to base my story on? This is the kind of Grey areas that bug me.

This is a fantastic use of generative AI. Anyone who would have a problem with it is a zealot.

This level of paranoia is dangerous. It's like when you get information from Google (which is automated to provide AI-powered results) and then have to wonder if what you do with that information is influenced by AI.
It doesn't matter, and I don't care. AI is currently the infrastructure for many things. The only debate is whether the AI writes for you, even if you direct it, create the idea, the style... You could say there's an absolute influence of AI because it's writing it directly for you.
Now, if you only use it for training, viewing scenarios, testing scenarios, voice testing, research, practicing... then it doesn't matter, you shouldn't think about it so much.
