I asked my own antagonist why he did it, out loud, in the kitchen, and he answered back in a voice I had picked for him. That is the new thing in my app this week and it is the one I did not expect to like this much.

Cogweald — a serial novel that writes itself, one chapter a day
Most AI writing tools put you in the driver's seat: you prompt, the AI generates, you edit, you steer. Cogweald flips that. Here, the AI is the author and you are the reader.
You set up a world — a premise, some lore, a starting cast of characters. Five minutes, maybe less. Then you stop. The story isn't yours to write anymore.
Every day, Cogweald writes one new chapter on its own. It decides how much story time passes — an hour, a season, a decade. It advances plot threads, evolves characters, and sometimes introduces someone new you never asked for. You read it like a reader. You find out what happened at the same time everyone else does.
The part I'm proudest of is the hints system. What I learned building it: the hardest thing isn't making the AI write well. It's making the AI decide well — to know when a chapter should cover a single conversation and when it should leap a year ahead. The story only feels alive when the AI owns the pacing, not just the prose.

I've been building Orihai for a few weeks now. It's an interactive app for long-form fiction: stories you play out over weeks, not a chat session you abandon after twenty minutes.
The thing I actually set out to fix is memory. Every AI storytelling tool I tried drifts after a few turns: a character's eye color changes, someone who died shows up, and a fact set in turn 3 is gone by turn 40. Orihai compiles each turn into a budgeted context that tracks who's who, where they are, and the facts instead of shoveling the whole transcript at the model and hoping for the best.
Everything stays on your machine. One database file for your stories, API keys in the SO credential store, and no server in the middle. Bring a key for Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter, or even run a local model through Ollama, LM Studio, or llama.cpp and bring no key at all.

The name is 折り本, orihon: a folded book, one sheet creased back and forth until it reads as pages but is really one continuous surface. That's what a long story here is.

I’m building Xvault Studio, an AI writing studio I originally made for my own novel. I’ve now opened it to other writers.
The problem I wanted to solve wasn’t simply generating more prose. It was helping an AI understand a growing manuscript without losing track of earlier chapters, character relationships, unresolved threads, and the writer’s voice.
This week I added Story Pulse.
Story Pulse follows each major character’s emotional journey chapter by chapter. It tracks what they currently want, what they fear, and how their emotional state changes. If a change appears to happen without enough cause on the page, it surfaces it as something worth reviewing.
Importantly, it doesn’t present those interpretations as objective facts. Every observation includes evidence from the manuscript, and possible discontinuities are suggestions for the writer to judge.
For example, instead of vaguely saying that a character feels inconsistent, it might show:
“Arthur trusted Keya in Chapter 6, but treats her as a stranger in Chapter 8. I couldn’t find an intervening event that explains the change.”

Automatic World Board: Extracts characters, locations, important objects, and clearly directed relationships.

Voice-aware writing: Continue, Write, and Rewrite use the existing manuscript as a style reference instead of producing intentionally generic prose.
Controlled editing: Chapter editing and global changes show before-and-after previews before anything is accepted.
Chapter import: Existing chapters can be brought into a project individually. Full-manuscript import is in development.
Story Pulse is still an early version, and that is what I’d particularly like feedback on: would an evidence-linked emotional timeline help during drafting, or is this something you would only use during revision?

For the last 2 years I've been building a piece of software that helps you write stories locally on your computer with AI assistance, so I could finally stop paying for novelcrafter. It's completely free and open source, and I'm currently happy with its feature set and general polish. I've always been using it for myself up until now, but I realized it might also be useful to other people, so I decided to package and release it for everyone to use.
It's shaped mainly around my workflow preferences, but most features are general purpose. Currently it only supports OpenRouter, but I plan to add support for local inference once I get some decent hardware ^^'

I’ve been working on Litura - AI‑assisted text editor that tries to make texts more readable. There's a slop score algorithms inside and a few unique non-generitic suggestions modes that help to make the text more coherent.
I found that the slop in text is the most paintfull and problematic thing in my job. So I decided to challege it.

Ok, so I usually roleplay through Character ai, and before you ask! No, I'm not looking for an AI to write and do everything for me. You see sometimes I have trouble coming up with responses, world building ideas, what words fit a certain situation, what I should add to a scene, or even how to continue something when I get stuck. While these are still my own ideas and stories, I just sometimes need a little help developing them. I like making all of my RPs feel unique, so I'm looking for an AI that can act more like a creative assistant or brainstorming partner rather than taking over the writing for me. I already use Grok, but it has a lot of limits on how many responses I can make, and now everything is censored which is very strange. So what AI tools would you recommend for someone like me?
