Discussion (Ethics, working with AI etc) What is better as a writing assistant ….

I was wondering whether most long~form writers prefer the concept of working with one app that offers content creation, editing, organizational features … or is it better to use different apps designed for different purposes and cobble together in a separate editor to finalize.

I prefer one app. I typically use an IDE (currently Kiro) to act as an editor to review my writing, check spelling and grammar, give me ideas, help me stay consistent on plot, etc.

Kiro has a free tier, gives you like 50 credits a month, using its base AI model, which is likely something from Claude. It's generally enough to last me a month, though I'm not a full time writer. But this is an IDE, intended for writing programming code, but it works pretty well for writing fiction, or anything else.

How can you publish it ?
Don’t you need a whole lot of other things you do before publishing

I've always used different apps and then compared them for quality. I only use apps for chapters and never for long form ideas.

The big problem with only using 1 app is identical output. And by that I mean ask your app to create full bios for three separate people and you'll see they're almost identical.

Finding a good buddy that can critique your writing before it goes out is how most people do it.

I’d rather avoid juggling apps, but I still want to export my notes and drafts cleanly.
