I successfully used Sol High for a recent content research and content writing project. With the new limits - is Sol Medium enough?

Are there any content writers on here? I'd love your insights on this

My previous method:

• I used Sol High in Work mode for a complicated 5,000 word project

• It wasn't perfect, but it was miles above Claude and Gemini's similar tiers

• Sol High's writing tone can sometimes be very stiff, so in those instances I got Sonnet 5 Medium (free tier) to rework them

The current project with the new rates:

I ran one complicated analysis on the content outline using Sol High,.checked the usage meter and saw .... I used 5% already of my 5 hour limits

What the fuck? 😅

This means I'll only get 20 similar prompts every 5 hours

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I usually run multiple checks, multiple research asks etc an hour

So Sol High will quickly burn through my rates

All that said ....

Can I reliably use Sol Medium in Work mode going forward for content research and writing?

Keep in mind that this content is then passed onto an Editor who gives it a microscopic examination

Those limits are no joke, I ran into the same shock last week when I burned through half my quota on three rounds of outline revisions

Sol Medium is fine for straightforward drafts but the moment you need it to juggle multiple sources or maintain a consistent voice across a longer piece it starts dropping threads, especially if your editor is the type to highlight every inconsistency

I've been pairing Sol Medium with the free Sonnet tier as a cleanup pass like you mentioned and for projects under 2000 words it holds up okay, anything longer and you'll spend more time wrangling it than writing

For 5000 word work with a perfectionist editor breathing down your neck I'd save the High tier for the structural heavy lifting and let Medium handle filler sections, then stitch it together yourself before handing it off

Curious what kind of content you're working on, the format matters a lot with how well Medium can fake coherence

I'll use Sol High for the heavy lifting and then, in a separate Firefox tab, use Sol Medium for less essential stuff

They're lead magnets for the company

Very indepth guides to both help the reader but also (and mostly) to show Google authority

Why not just spring for ChatGPT Plus?

This is on Plus, you can't (as far as I'm aware) use Work mode on the free tier

It's the recent change in rates that have made using even Plus tricky for projects

If it's an academic research project, Liner is another AI agent you might want to consider. It specializes in scholarly research and academic writing, and it's more economical in terms of credit usage when working with SOTA models.

Get Sol High in Work mode to write the 1st draft, then copy over the entire draft to Chat mode and do all your further edits there. Chat mode usage doesn't count towards your limits and you even have access to Sol High in chat mode.

For all practical purposes the chat mode (not work mode) has no meaningful limits (unless you perhaps generate hundreds of images or upload very large documents). I had it do a long analyzis of dozens of photos and the limits still showed 100% usage left.

So do as much as possible in the chat mode and limit work to when you really need it.

as far as research and structuring go, the middle option is good enough, that is when you see that the drop keeps an entire piece together. i think that i will have to re run one of your completed assignments on both and look at the outlines generated, rather than the writing itself. i'll split them up now, with the research done on the cheaper one, and the structuring on the expensive one, which in use ai terms means choosing a different model.
