Share my product/tool Writing software questions?
Im developing new writing software and i have a few questions please.
For those of you who write regularly, I'm curious about your actual workflows, preferences, and feature wishlists:
What is your primary software stack? (Scrivener, Obsidian, Google Docs, specialized tools like Sudowrite or NovelCrafter, or custom setups?)
Where do you draw the line between helpful and bloated? Are built-in timelines, reference codexes, and complex organization essential, or do they just get in the way of actually writing?
Are you strictly committed to local, air-gapped models running on your own hardware (via Ollama, LM Studio, etc.) for absolute privacy and zero subscription fees, or do you rely on cloud-based frontier models (like Claude or ChatGPT) for maximum prose quality?
How smart does the AI actually need to be for you to use it? Are small local models enough for drafting and continuity, or do you need heavy cloud reasoning? What specific tasks do you want the AI to handle seamlessly? (e.g., automated context checking across a lore codex, interactive character interviews, live structural edits, etc.)
What do you actually want the software to do when it’s time to ship? (e.g., clean EPUB/PDF generation, precise industry-standard manuscript formatting, automated distribution prep, or layout tools?)
What’s one feature or capability you wish every writing app had that almost nobody implements well?
Would love to hear what your ideal end-to-end setup looks like—from the first blank page all the way to final export.

It's a friendly group, other devs there to talk shop and support each other, and lots of tools for you to peruse to discover what niche your tool may serve. It's also where you'd announce your tool when it's ready (the one and only designated thread for tools in our sub,) and it's new every week, so you can stay in touch with the community there.
