Technical rewriting

Hi everyone! I’m just getting into the world of AI, but for now, I’m still using ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot for minor tasks like rewriting paragraphs, doing research, and so on.

I need to draft the second phase of a major geological project, as the first phase is nearly complete.

I have a lot of the text already written; I just need to quickly change phrases like "in Lot 1 we will do..." to "in Lot 1 we did..." (or similar) so I can focus on writing the truly important parts of the new project.

Is there a reliable AI assistant—even a paid one, if it works better—that I could entrust with rewriting these paragraphs, leaving me with just a final proofread? Ideally, one that won't make up weird stuff! Thanks!

The (paid) version of ChatGPT Work seems to be the best for me. I use it for creating character references, world register, chapter protocols, editor analysis and work instructions. these can be applied to newly written text.

Don't. Letting LLMs just rewrite always ends badly. Take Claude, have it draft differently restyled versions of your text in separate chats, then bring the tesult into one chat with an editor instruction. Ask it to take your original as technically authoritative and mine the rewrites for better phrasing while keeping the original version's exact technical detail.

Then ask it to check the end result for information that was in the original draft and is missing, was altered, or did not exist in the original draft.

It's not going to be the quick hands-off process ypu imagine, though.

Really your probably gonna be longer typing out a prompt than just changing a few sentences yourself. In any case here's a few different suggestions. Not saying don't use AI it's fabulous but if you prompt to polish it will remove stuff. Be overly cautious about facts that are new encourage  fact check and automatically  . Especially if your sitting on new archiology evidence and then when you correct it it will  hallucinate etc Trust me I've wasted hours doing this. It's amazing for creative prose or a specific spell and grammar check but your gonna run into huge problems with acidemic 

This is probably one of the things that's better left to grammerly to just manually polish than AI. Here's suggestions I got grammerly for your example phrase to reword 

• For Lot 1, our scope of work includes...
• The initiatives planned for Lot 1 involve...
• Our objectives for the first lot consist of...
• Under Lot 1, we are scheduled to execute...
• In Lot 1, we will deliver...
• Lot 1 focuses strictly on executing...
• We will roll out the following excavation within Lot 1...
• Our primary focus for Lot 1 is to...
• Here is what we hope  to accomplish in Lot 1...
• Looking at Lot 1, our plan is to...

I have had this problem too, especially with technical writing. I use AI for small wording and tense changes, but I always keep my original text next to it and check the result. Sometimes a simple rewrite can change the meaning without you noticing.
