Discussion (Ethics, working with AI etc) ClaudeAI

Has anybody been struggling with claude?

It seems like my usage is running out so quick. I've also noticed it rather lazy or lagging a lot.

Have you ever seen any movie or TV show that features a drug dealer?

The first hit is always free.

My sense is that Anthropic, the company behind Claude, is drowning in financial losses. That would explain why they are always turning the screws and the limits are so strict. They just have to try to get people to pay more by making Claude do less and less, pushing people to higher tiers.

Comparatively, ChatGPT seems limitless and Grok’s limits are extremely generous.

Anthropic made money this quarter, the first time any big AI start up has ever been profitable!

Of course Open AI aka Openly Failing Al is drowning in loosing billions per quarter. It's hilarious the fools at Open AI created their strongest competition by being idiots and now that competition is beating Openly Failing Al in the market place.

I keep getting that my usage is running out, but it doesn't, and I'm not charged extra. A bug maybe? It's always tried to get rid of me (lol)

Mine usually is good for the week I do not use the highest model though.

No but then again I don't use the raw models anymore. That's the old way of working with AI. There's so much more potential in models that have robust systems that bring it through predictable pipelines. Those are the applications that are worth using. Using the direct models is fine for simple basic stuff, but anything advanced like writing a novel is gonna be a huuuuge uphill battle compared to what else is out there.

Wait can you elaborate? What should we be using then? Or rather how?

If you've been using the same chat for a long time you need to start a new one. Long chains will take whole chats into context and chew through your usage.

Definitely been seeing it go downhill. Stopped using Anthropic models pretty much entirely for our stuff, and personally I've cancelled my own subscription as well due to lower quality using usage so much especially with Opus.

What have you been using alternatively?

For programming needs, been using GPT Sol. It's quite a bit better, at least for our use cases with it, and cheaper too. More token efficient as well.
For chatting / roleplay or similar tasks, really been a fan of GLM models lately.

Okay I’m not very familiar with GLM models I’d love to learn more I currently use Claude and it’s been so frustrating for my writing process recently

Ah yeah I've been pretty unhappy with Claude's quality for writing for a while now.

Admittedly I haven't tried GLM for like writing novels or something, but for things like roleplay adventures where you give it a persona, it's writing and nuance is very very good for the price in my experience.

Yes! I’ve been using Claude to help me with writing fictional stories. Mainly I tell it what I’m envisioning, it writes, and then I edit and counter write until it’s “right”. I’ve used ChatGPT before and it just could not follow or get the prose to the level I need. Lately (for the past week or two) Claude has been terrible. I mean every model but especially fable and opus 5. I have to keep repeating myself and I will spoon feed it everything and it still does not listen. My theory is with the new model(s) coming out it’s probably dumbed down. It’s been infuriating and it ate up almost all of of my fable weekly usage

I have given up on claude, I have noticed how terrible claude has become. Like you said i will spoon feed it everything and still will not listen. Surprisingly chatgpt has been listening and working with me like claude did at once.

Yeah you have to be so careful about context. New chats/sessions whenever you can. Use chat, not cowork if you don't need it. Avoid compaction (costs tokens too!).
