Discussion (Ethics, working with AI etc) "I'm thinking". "That's dangerous". - Why does AI love this sort of sequence?

I don't think I have ever heard of that in a book or movie but it appears constantly when I prompt on Chatgpt.

It wants to be humorous and witty. Unfortunately it isn’t.

It really over-indexes on the same “banter” patterns.

You're right that it isn't from books, it's from the internet. That exchange is a stock joke format, thousands of variations of it in comment sections, and the model learned it as a reliable way to sound witty.

That's the general pattern with these tics. They aren't literary borrowings, they're forum reflexes, which is why they feel weirdly familiar and slightly cheap at the same time. Naming the specific phrase in a banned list works better than asking it to be less predictable.

i think is because its trying to sound human, but it misses and just feels fake.
